Comfort Inn Downtown 15 E. Ohio St. (off Michigan Avenue) 888-775-4111 Ask for the Colter/Stohler block $129 for doubles $139 for queens $149 for kings The Comfort Inn is newly refurbished, and it's a pretty cool hotel. The decor is kind of art-deco, with bright colors and funky patterns. The #22 Clark bus stops near the hotel, which will take you up to the Historical Society. |
Club Quarters Wacker/Michigan 75 E.Wacker Drive $69 for one double bed $79 for 2 double beds (unfortunately, queens are all sold out) Located on the lower part of Michigan Ave along the river, basically at the bottom of the "Magnificent Mile." A fantastic location if you want to spend time downtown. You can take both the El and buses to the Historical Society from the hotel. Check out the website here and click on the "Chicago" location. **If you want to make a reservation at Club Quarters, it is really, really important that you e-mail or call Elissa...you actually won't be able to book through the hotel itself. The Congress Plaza Hotel 520 S. Michigan Ave. 312-427-3800 Ask for the Colter/Stohler block $139 for single and double rooms $149 for king rooms The Congress Hotel is gorgeous, and if you get a good view, you're all set. It's further south than any of the other hotels we're pointing out, but it's easy to get up Michigan, and near an El stop. It's also near Grant Park and the Petrillo Music Shell. |

The Majestic Hotel 528 W. Brompton 773-404-3499 Ask for the Colter/Stohler block $129 for a single $169 for 2 queens and a pull-out couch The Majestic is two blocks south of where we live, and it's a neat little hotel tucked away in a residential street off of Lake Shore Drive. The rooms are beautiful, and for 3 people, the suite is a good deal. Complimentary continental breakfast is included in the price. |
The Claridge Hotel 1244 N. The breakfasts at the restaurant attached are supposed to be fabulous, and a complimentary continental breakfast is included in the rate...which you can also use as a "coupon" towards a real breakfast. |

It's right in the heart of Lakeview, near cool restaurants and Wrigley Field. But the coolest thing about this hotel is that their complimentary breakfast includes the famous Ann Sather cinnamon rolls, which are out of this world. |
The Sutton Place Hotel 21 E. Bellvue Place 312-266-2100 We don't have a block reserved here, but it's a cool hotel $189 for a king or 2 double beds The Sutton Place is in the heart of the posh upper Michigan Avenue area...beautiful people, expensive boutiques, and great restaurants abound. Ask for one of the newly refurbished rooms. |
